Network Rail Industry Common Induction (ICI) With London Underground Endorsement
The Industry Common Induction (ICI) was devised to provide rail-based operatives with a detailed health and safety induction for working in construction sites, rail depots and station maintenance. Network Rail developed the induction, in partnership with ISLG (Infrastructure Safety Liaison Group) and RIAG (Rail Infrastructure Assurance Group). The induction outlines the safety procedures and risks that are common across the rail industry, no matter what the role entails or type of rail construction site the operative will be active on.
This Industry Common Induction (ICI – LU) is intended for staff that will work on London Underground managed infrastructure on behalf of TFL.
The purpose of the induction is to give LU staff an initial overview of the risks that can arise when working in the railway construction project environment. The induction is designed to provide the basic knowledge required to operate on site such as the general health, safety and environmental issues present on a railway construction project environment. The primary purpose of the induction is to remove the necessity of repetitive briefings concerning the same subject across all rail projects on a daily basis.
ICI will improve safety and productivity on sites:
- This rail industry specific induction enables operatives to identify risks and hazards that are specific to their role and the environment they are working in.
- The testing procedure ensures that the induction has been read and understood by the participant.
